Working in Primrose Park

Hayley wanted to jog this morning so I accompanied her down to Primrose Park, which is less than a mile from our studio apartment.  I brought my laptop to finish up some server-side programming for a new iPhone application, but instead I’m writing this blog entry.  Funny how that happens.

We got a HUAWEI E220 3G modem in South Africa and while the reception sucks within the city, it seems to work well in wide open spaces like parks.  I spent hours trying to get it to work on my MacBook, but the pain was worth it.  Using it in the park like this is pretty amazing.

I plan to work here regularly.  Looking out on this harbour inlet totally clears my mind.  Sorry to sound cheeseball, but the ambient sounds of birds chirping and leaves blowing in the wind is ideal for focusing.

The Path Down
Dubya would call this Jungly for sure.

The trail down to the park feels like a rain forest.  A path of stone steps meanders down a hillside over two small bridges that cross a creek and small waterfall.   The trail opens into a huge grass sports field surrounded by trees. People are doing yoga in the middle of the field and playing tennis at nearby courts.  At the far end of the field is a fence which guards a small five foot drop into the Sydney harbour.  Older sailboats are anchored on buoys at the nearby marina and the water is glassy and calm.

It is a pretty amazing place, so I had to share and record it for later in my life when my memory starts failing me. I think I should probably get back to my work now.
